Minister Appeals for Help After Lead Theft

Our church has been hit by by theft and vandalism.

Plans to celebrate the silver jubilee of Operation New Look are being hampered by the recent theft of lead from the church roof. In addition the back fence of the car park as been broken down by youngsters using the area as a cut through to the village.

The lead theft has proved of particular concern and has caused damage to the roof and other areas.

Minister the Rev Derek Grimshaw is appealing for community support to help catch the thieves. The theft has already been reported to Norfolk Police.

“We are very much a community focussed church and are at present looking at ways of channelling funds into supporting the local community. Unfortunately much of our resources are being used up to repair damage caused by thieves and vandals.

“We really do need the community to support us by reporting to the police anything suspicious taking place around the church,” Rev Grimshaw said.

The theft of lead from the building has left damage to brickwork and necessitated a mopping up operation within the building during recent bouts of rain.

“Many people involved in the church give hundreds of hours of their time freely and it is very disappointing that so much of their time is being taken up repairing unnecessary damage,” Rev Grimshaw added.
