Prayer Circle - July to September 2008

A prayer cycle has been devised as a way of making our church life richer in its worship of God. For each day of the month you will find two topics - one is linked to an aspect of the life of the Church in Hethersett and the other to the life of our wider community.

As you pray for each person or topic, remember their work and its importance in the life of the whole Church and ask God to help you in offering your gifts and abilities in His service.

Please use this cycle as a means of deepening your own prayer life. Included are some prayers which can be used as a very simple form of prayer each day. The below chart covers the months from January to March 2008.

THE PRAYER OF THE MORNING

Blessed are you, Lord our God

Giver of life,

Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

At the opening of this day

you call us out of darkness

Into your marvellous light.

Blesses are you for ever and ever

Amen

God of compassion and mercy

listen to our prayer.

May what we ask in Jesus Christ your Son

be done according to his word, who said,

        Ask and you will receive

        Seek and you will find

Knock and the door will be opened to you.

To you, merciful God, through your Son

In the lifegiving spirit, be glory and praise for ever.

Amen

THE PRAYER OF THE EVENING

God and Father of all, as this day ends

we offer up its hours in praise to you.

As we take our rest, unite us, by your spirit,

In praise of Christ our Lord,

The Alpha and Omega,

The First and Last,

In whom we make our prayer. Amen
