Operation New Look Events

The real celebrations for Operation New Look will begin on October 19th, 2008, which is the closest date to when the Church was "turned around," the General Purpose room was added and the new entrances were opened. There are events planned before that, however. Visit this page to keep up to date with coming events. There will also be reports on the various events.

14th June 2008

The celebrations began with an Operation New Look Vision Day when church members and others looked back on the past and the events that had shaped the church. Time was also spent looking towards the future. Coffee was served during the morning and lunches were provided. There was a display of cuttings and photographs from the past 30 years and the following were also on display and will form a cornerstone of Operation New Look anniversary.

Memory Book

This has pages headed with each year over the last 25. People are being invited to write memories against each year. These will be placed on this special area of the web site and can be.

When you arrived in Hethersett

A particular event that you remember

The birth of a child

The arrival of a minister

The death of somebody

Something that happened in the village

New houses being built.

If you have photographs that you are happy for us to scan to include in this book that would be wonderful.

Remembering People

During 25 years people will have come and gone and all of them will have been important in the life of the church, some of them will have never been known to some of us.

Those present were invited to write down the names of people and any memories, little stories, characteristics and again pictures that you have. Again these will be included on the web site.

Hethersett Re-united

Following on from remembering people, we would like to make contact with as many people as we can and create a book about "where are they now."

Forms and letters have been prepared and are now available to be filled in on-line and available by clicking on the relevant link on the left.

All of these activities are planned, not so that we can simply be nostalgic but to remember the events and the people that make Hethersett important.

Vision Book

Operation New Look is not about a committee meeting and deciding the future direction of the Church. It is the people of the Church coming together and sharing their dreams/

We will have a Vision Book where people can write down the sort of ideas that maybe they have kept to themselves in the past. Don't worry if it sound wacky or downright stupid, you might find that others have been feeling the same way.

Maybe you can think of activities that the church should be involed in

Maybe you would like to see changes made to worship

Maybe you have seen something that is being done somewhere else and think "we could do that!"

Maybe you have an idea about the use of the building

Maybe there is something we have done in the past that has somehow fizzled out and you want to know why

Maybe you have been waiting for somebody to ask your opinion on something. Now is the time

We have one year, one possibility, one chance. Let us make the most of this and, as we reach the end of 2009 let us be a Church that has vision and feels to be fulfilling God's purpose on earth.

Coming Events
