Operation New Look Events
The real celebrations for Operation New Look will begin on October 19th, 2008, which is the closest date to when the Church was "turned around," the General Purpose room was added and the new entrances were opened. There are events planned before that, however. Visit this page to keep up to date with coming events. There will also be reports on the various events. 14th June 2008 The celebrations began with an Operation New Look Vision Day when church members and others looked back on the past and the events that had shaped the church. Time was also spent looking towards the future. Coffee was served during the morning and lunches were provided. There was a display of cuttings and photographs from the past 30 years and the following were also on display and will form a cornerstone of Operation New Look anniversary. Memory Book
If you have photographs that you are happy for us to scan to include in this book that would be wonderful. Remembering People During 25 years people will have come and gone and all of them will have been important in the life of the church, some of them will have never been known to some of us. Those present were invited to write down the names of people and any memories, little stories, characteristics and again pictures that you have. Again these will be included on the web site. Hethersett Re-united Following on from remembering people, we would like to make contact with as many people as we can and create a book about "where are they now." Forms and letters have been prepared and are now available to be filled in on-line and available by clicking on the relevant link on the left. All of these activities are planned, not so that we can simply be nostalgic but to remember the events and the people that make Hethersett important. Vision Book Operation New Look is not about a committee meeting and deciding the future direction of the Church. It is the people of the Church coming together and sharing their dreams/ We will have a Vision Book where people can write down the sort of ideas that maybe they have kept to themselves in the past. Don't worry if it sound wacky or downright stupid, you might find that others have been feeling the same way.
We have one year, one possibility, one chance. Let us make the most of this and, as we reach the end of 2009 let us be a Church that has vision and feels to be fulfilling God's purpose on earth. Coming Events October 2008 There is the possibility that top British soprano Elizabeth Watts, who comes from Hethersett, will return for a special concert in the church. More details of this as soon as we have them. 19th October 2008 The Rev Brian Dann was minister at the time of Operation New Look and he will be returning to preach at the morning service of October 19th. Other ministers who served at the church since this time are also being invited to attend. 24th May 2009 The Chair of the East Anglia District The Rev Graham Thompson will preach 20th September 2009 A service will be led by the Chair of Newcastle Upon Tyne District Rev Leo Osborn. The following services have already been arranged and numerous other people have been contacted. We will keep you up to date on this page. Thank you to those who have suggested names of people to be invited. To date the following have accepted our invitation and will lead the services on the dates given.
